About K9 Academics

Building communication, confidence, and real-world reliability between dogs and owners through private, in-home training throughout Northern Colorado.
Training Built Around Communication and Real Life
K9 Academics was founded on the belief that effective dog training should improve everyday life for both dogs and owners. With over 40 years of professional experience and an M.A. in Psychology, Robin’s approach focuses on communication, consistency, and helping owners better understand how dogs learn and respond to the world around them.
Rather than relying on one-size-fits-all methods, training is adjusted to the individual dog, the owner’s goals, and the real environments dogs experience every day. Sessions are conducted privately and in-home throughout Northern Colorado, allowing training to develop within the situations most relevant to the dog’s daily life.
A Real-World Approach to Training
As dogs and owners progress, training may expand into parks, public spaces, stores, or other real-world environments appropriate for the dog’s goals and confidence level. The focus is not simply teaching behaviors during lessons, but building practical communication and reliability owners can carry into everyday life.
Every dog learns differently. Some need confidence, some need clearer communication, and others need help learning to remain calm and focused in more challenging environments. K9 Academics was built to help owners better understand their dogs while creating lasting, practical results through thoughtful and individualized training.
Helping Owners Understand Their Dogs
Long-term success depends on more than teaching behaviors alone. Owners learn how dogs learn, how communication affects behavior, and how consistency, timing, and environment influence training outcomes. As owners develop a better understanding of their dogs and the training process, they are better able to continue building progress and reliability long after formal sessions have ended.
